Convention arrival statistics for January & February 2012 have been released and the figures show promise for a strong year ahead. However the industry is not being complacent as there is more growth needed to achieve the 2020 Potential Target.

December 2011: Convention Arrival Statistics
The convention arrival figures have been released for November and December by the Australian Bureau of Statistics and they show some positive growth for convention arrivals. This gives good promise for greater improvement in 2012. However the annual figures for 2011 of inbound convention and outbound convention show a more worrying trend. October 2011: State of the Business Events Industry Report
BECA has released the inaugural State of the Business Events Industry Report by Dr Leo Jago and Dr Margaret Deery. This report provides a snap shot of the state of our industry and has provided key performance indicators to be measured annually. This report replaces some of the detailed annual information previously included in the monthly Performance Reports.

BECA will now only publish monthly Convention Arrival statistics as opposed to the full performance monitoring statistics previously available. However in the coming months we will be releasing the first of the Annual State of the Business Events Reports which will provide an annual statement on the performance of the industry including data previously listed in the monthly report.
