BECA Supports Scrap the Cap Campaign

BECA has joined the Scrap the Cap Alliance to work along side over 50 associations and oprganisations who are against the government introduction of a tax cap on work related self education expenses. The #ScrapTheCap Alliance is a collaborative initiative that brings together key stakeholders to create a movement for change and to encourage the Federal Government to urgently reverse this ill conceived tax.

The Federal Government needs to urgently reverse the introduction of a $2000 cap on tax deductibility of self-education expenses. We believe it will negatively impact the training and professional development of all Australians.

The Alliance met recently at the Associations Forum National Conference to discuss the progress of the campaign so far and to look at what are the next steps for success. There will more action in coming weeks to deter the government from going ahead with this restriction of individuals ability to develop skills and knowledge.

BECA's involvement in the Alliance works along side our submission to the Government Discussion Paper submitted earlier this month.
